The average college semester is about 15 weeks long. No wonder bachelor’s degrees are earned in four years and graduate degrees in two, on average. While whole sessions at UT Permian Basin will run for 14 to 16 weeks, the A and B sessions of our summer, fall, and spring semesters are generally just eight weeks long (seven for summer). What is an accelerated degree program like? Not much different from what can be found on campus, aside from an efficient online format. The same experienced, dedicated faculty members who teach online also lead our on-campus programs. Their doors — actual and virtual — are always open, and the similarities don’t stop there.
Online students have access to many of the same resources offered on campus. Advisors are available for office visits or by email or phone to help students make informed academic decisions. UT Permian Basin also provides 24/7 online tutoring through Brainfuse Online Tutoring and writing assistance through the Online Writing Lab. All students are encouraged to take advantage of these online resources.
Though separated by distance, students still find camaraderie with their fellow Falcons in our accelerated online programs. There are ample opportunities to network and collaborate during discussions, assignments, and group projects. Moreover, 24-hour discussion boards help ensure that support is available day or night, which may not always be the case in a traditional classroom.
