Regular Admission Status Option 1

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human performance, kinesiology, exercise science, strength and conditioning, coaching, physical education, or a related area.
  • GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 credit hours.

Regular Admission Status Option 2

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Successful completion of a previous master's degree.

Conditional Admission Status

  • GPA between 2.99 to 2.5 in the last 60 credit hours of coursework leading to a baccalaureate degree.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Evelyn J. Gordon, PhD, is a clinical assistant professor of human performance with the College of Health Sciences at The University of Texas Permian Basin. After graduating from Texas Tech University with her PhD in 2015, she joined UTPB in 2022. Before this, Dr. Gordon worked for Halliburton as a Human Resource Development Coordinator between 2018 and 2022 and The University of Southern Mississippi between 2015 and 2018.  

Her research interest focuses on physical education teacher retention and mentoring. Her work has been published in “Mentoring and Tutoring,” “Improving Schools,” and “The Physical Educator.” Dr. Gordon teaches the following courses within the Human Performance undergraduate program and MSK: Research Methods, Curricular Innovations, Administration in Physical Education and Athletics, Contract Studies, and Master’s Project.

Dr. Sciamama-Saghiv has held academic leadership and faculty positions at The University of Texas Permian Basin, Odessa, TX; North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University, Greensboro, NC; the University of Mary, Bismarck, ND; and the Wingate Academic College, Netanya, Israel.  

Dr. Sciamama-Saghiv’s academic degrees include a PhD in exercise physiology from the University of Porto, Porto, Portugal; MSc in exercise science; and a BEd in physical education from the Wingate Academic College, Netanya, Israel (as evaluated by NACES).  

Dr. Sciamama-Saghiv’s research focuses on exercise modalities, oxidative stress, and anti-aging as reflected via the changes in Soluble-Klotho levels and Klotho gene expression in health and disease, as well as across age and sex/gender. Some of Dr. Sciamama-Saghiv’s scholarship achievements include multiple peer-reviewed publications, books, research grants, presentations at scientific meetings, invited lectures, and service to peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Sciamama-Saghiv is personally dedicated to students, staff, and the success of the faculty.

Dr. Omer Baris Kaya is an assistant professor at UTPB’s Department of Health and Human Performance. With a PhD in physical education and sport from Gazi University and a master’s in kinesiology from Sam Houston State University, Dr. Kaya brings extensive knowledge and experience to his teaching and research roles.

He has taught a diverse range of courses in exercise science, from Strength & Conditioning to Exercise Physiology, and is passionate about engaging students in active learning. His research focuses on the acute effects of exercise on movement abilities and health, particularly in elite athletes.

Beyond academia, Dr. Kaya has a rich background that includes playing soccer at a professional level in Turkey. He has also been a coach, a licensed canoe referee, and a project support member for the European Union. He actively contributes to curriculum development and student mentoring at UTPB and is dedicated to advancing the field of exercise science through his work and community involvement.

Jinhyun Lee, DPT, PhD is an associate professor of exercise science and chair for the Department of Exercise and Biological Sciences at UTPB. He holds his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Loma Linda University, California, as well as a PhD from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. His research focuses on body composition, biomechanics, healthcare business, neuroscience, and physical activity.
